Dr Cheong qualified from the University of Otago in 1970. Dr Cheong went on to do his Masters degree in Orthodontics at the University of Otago in 1986. He has been in Orthodontic practice from 1989 and held a post as a lecturer in the government dental school of Dunedin, New Zealand, from 1986 - 1988. 

Dr Cheong has a vast experience in Orthodontics for adolescents, adults and children. Dr Cheong is a firm believer in bio-adaptive therapy. Dr Cheong feels that the bio- adaptive response of the Damon system is changing the way he treatment plans in many of his cases. He has known, in his own practice, that dramatic results can be achieved in significantly less time, with fewer appointments, and with less discomfort compared to traditional fixed appliance treatment.
